‘Lululemon’ Yoga Clothing

I sent a sponsorship application form to ‘Lululemon’ (technical yoga clothes and apparel) and had a great reply saying they would be happy to send me some clothes out to try out and test for them and for me to give them feedback on their products. I got into Lululemon clothes when i was out in New York last year as everyone was talking about them, so i had to go and checked their shop out.

They are a Canadian based company with shops in the states, Hong Kong, Australia and a few others.

Lululemon offer a wide range of clothes, mainly yoga clothes and running gear for men and women. The clothes are fantastic and are made with great comfortable material.

Check out www.lululemon.com for more details.

I am very excited to have received some clothes from Lululemon as i just love their clothes!

Massive thanks!

‘January 2011 Update’

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the gym since my operation.  Lots and
lots of rehab work.  It’s been mainly a lot of calf work to build them up and make
them strong, which then takes the pressure of my Achilles. Mentally it’s pretty tough as i
would much rather be on the squash court but to get back playing again this
is my main priority for the day, to get my rehab done. Physio Joe has
been writing a programme for me for the week which I follow and this has
been very helpful.  It makes sure I’m getting the right amount of rehab, cardio while also introducing light squash back into my routine as well.

I have been going to ‘hot’ yoga classes as well which i really like and this is such a good, tough session and its away from the gym, with lots of people doing it as well which i really enjoy. The class the other night had about 50 people in it!

On a personal note, thanks to my sponsor Vitabiotics (Health care products) for their recent advertising campaign in the London Underground. I had a lot of comments from people saying they had seen the poster of me on various tube trains!! I sometimes go to Warren Street for physio and so over the last few weeks i have seen the poster a lot which was a little embarrassing at times but great publicity for me and for squash.  So a massive thanks to Vitabiotics for their continued support.

Happy New Year!

I’m looking forward to 2010 finishing now and a new fresh start in 2011. For me 2010 had a lot of highs and lows.

I reached my highest ranking of world number 3 which i currently am now, also to win three back to back tournaments at the start of the year, Greenwich, Ohio and then the national championships was a great start to the year.

In most of the gold events, i reached the semis or finals so this was definately a goal of mine to maintain top 4 position.

However this year has been has been my worst year for injurys, having had no real injurys in the past it was all quite a new experience for me. To have to pull out during the commonwealth games was very disappointing and to not to be able to play in the womens world team event was also a big blow.

I had a small procedure on my achilles 2 weeks ago and hopefully that will be the end the problem. Looking to get back on court within a few weeks and can’t wait to get back on court. I have missed playing and training and looking forward to my first tournament back in Ohio at the end of Jan. I’m itching to get back competiting.

Happy new year and thanks for all the support!

Update From Alison

‘I hurt my achilles in my Commonwealth Games semi final match and had a scan the following morning and it showed a small tear in the achilles tendon. Which meant i had to pull out of my bronze playoff match and also the doubles. So very disappointing as the games are only every 4 years and its such a special event for us. So i enjoyed 5 days of watching doubles..!! Even though i had this injury it was a fantastic 2 weeks with a great team and we all come back with lots of memories and stories. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world . Glasgow 2014 here we come!!!’    – Alison

‘Into the quarter finals this afternoon vs joelle king of new Zealand! Won my first two rounds both 3-0 and it was good to get on the glass yesterday! It’s an amazing venue and I think one of the best we have played at!-

Saw Matthew Pinsent yesterday at the courts and also Kelly Holmes in the food hall the other day!

Can’t believe we have been here a week now, time flies when having fun!

Watch my match at 8.30am today on BBC on the red button! Enjoy!’  - Alison

World Open 2010: Semi Final v Nicol David

Tuesday 21st September
Semi Finals: Alison lost to Nicol David (0-3)

Scores will be updated here..6.30pm…..LIVE…..12/14, 2/11, 6/11, [38 Minutes]

“Well tonights match was hard work.. Nicol was relentless and it was
tough out there. So much hotter then last night and
after a tight first game which i think looking back now was crucial
14-12..i seemed to hit a brick wall and nicol got a boost by winning the
first game so it was an uphill battle after that! Very draining and
don’t think i have ever seen my face so red before!!! Shocking ha!
Can’t complain about getting to the semis of the world open but would
have been good not to have lost to Nicol again…!
A day of relaxing tomorrow and catching some sun and snorkelling which
is meant to be really good here!”   – Alison

World Open 2010: 1/4 Finals v Vanessa Atkinson

1/4 Finals: Alison beat Vanessa Atkinson (3-2)
9/11, 11/4, 11/7, 10/12, 11/8, [56 minutes]

‘Wow, that was a close one!!’

“Well last night’s match had it all really!!..2-1 up and 10-5 up
in the 4th and Vanessa shows what a great player she is and clawed
her way back to win that game 12-10.. i lost 6 points on the
trot.. oh dear me! Tough that as you need to forget about
what has  just happened as soon as possible really as going
into the 5th it’s a new game and you can’t dwell on it!

So 10-4 up in the 5th and Vanessa again strings some points
together and gets back to 8-10….relief for me as I win the
next point and take the match. Great match from Vanessa and
I knew it was going to be tough. She is former world number 1
and world champion and is never going to give up!

Sorry big bro to put you through that… (Watching on live
scoreboard… brutal…).. ha ha!!

So it’s great to be in the semis of the world open but I’m not
done yet… Nicol tonight…’If not today than when? “   - Alison

World Open 2010: Last 16 v Annie Au

Last 16: Alison beat Annie Au (3-0)
11/2, 11/7, 14/12 [32 minutes]

“Won last night 3-0 against Annie. Had a good game plan and think I stuck to it pretty well. The third was pretty
tight 14-12 so was happy not to have dropped a game and conserve some energy. We played outside on the
glass court and even playing at
9pm it was still pretty hot and bouncy. It was much better though then our
practice in the morning when the court was like a ‘greenhouse’ Temperature must have been well over
30 degrees.
Playing Vanessa Atkinson tonight, we haven’t played for a while but she had a good win
yesterday and is a tough opponent.

Ok well off to the 'greenhouse' now!’" - Alison

World Open 2010: Rd 1 v Kanzy El Dafrawy

Rd 1: Alison beat Kanzy El Dafrawy (3-0)
11/2, 11/2, 11/3 (21 minutes)

'World Open in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) and what a great venue it is!
Weather has been amazing, if a little too hot during the day and the resort we are staying at is fantastic.
The same with any tournament we don't really enjoy the venue until we have finished playing,
so no sunbathing or snorkelling for me yet! Started today with a first round 3-0 win v Kanzy El Dafrawy,
an up and coming Egyptian player. Pleased to start with a good win as I had never played her before
so wasn't sure what to expect really, but knew she hit the ball well (which she did). I play Annie Au
now tomorrow evening on the glass court. This will be our first meeting!   - Alison
