Had an interesting  week in Shanghai, it was my first trip there and it was good to experience a different culture and see way of life out there. Eating out was good fun and some how we managed to order food in a combination of speaking English and nodding at their Chinese and somehow knowing what the other was saying!!! ( well almost…)

Squash wise, it was a bit of a mixed bag. Had a five setter in the first round vs Hong Kong player Joey Chan who is a nice little player and made me work for it. Quarter finals I had a tough match with Raneem winning 13/11 in the 5th. It was a really good game and I was really pleased to win especially as I had lost to her in Malaysia a few months ago in a fairly one sided game. Came out with a different game plan and I knew that If I could get this right and make the game tough then I stood a good chance. It was neck and neck in the 5th and I think I won it on my 3rd match ball.
Semis moved to the all glass court in the middle of a park in the centre of town which was a pretty spectacular venue. Unfortunately I lost to Joelle King 3-0, we had a tight first game 12-10 which was probably crucial for me in hindsight. Joelle played well and adapted to the court better than I did and made it tough for me to make any real in road. A bit of a disappointing end to the tournament but I have to look at the positives and beating Raneem was a real positive.
Note to self… Don’t have five setters in the first round!! Ha.

Am back home now and have two weeks now before we go to France for the world team event which we are all really looking forward to. I love team events, it’s a great week and especially nice as we all get on so well. We have all grown up together and it’s the same team as it was when we played world juniors at the age of 18. So that makes it really nice and and if we all play to our potentials then we stand a great chance.

So a few days rest then back into training. First stop is down in Exeter for Premier league tuesday night. We have a strong team out and are hoping to get a good result down there.

It’s nice to be back, bit cold though.. Brrrrrr!
